Monday Night Football — the show as well as the game each week — is special. From the first game back in 1970, this game has been about flash and attention. Some of the biggest moments in NFL history are remembered because everyone was watching together. You can still watch these games on ESPN even if you've cut cable from your roster. Let's review the games, and learn how to stream NFL Monday Night Football if you've cut the cord.
Monday Night Football is the game slot that had the first prime-time NFL games. Now it may be just one of many prime time games, but it still stands out as the last game of each NFL week. Players, coaches and fans circle the Monday Night Football games for their team on the schedule, and you will notice a lot of division games and grudge matches on the schedule. Monday Night Football games air on ESPN.
What's on tap this Monday? This game may decide the NFC North title as the Green Bay Packers (11-3) face the Minnesota Vikings (10-4) at U.S. Bank Stadium at 8:15 p.m. The Packers have put themselves in a great position heading into the playoffs with consistent performances from their defense. The duo of Preston Smith and Za'Darius Smith have 21.5 sacks on the season, and the Packers 15 total team interceptions are top five in the NFL. Future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers has also been strong in 2019, with 24 touchdowns on 3463 yards. After this game, the Packers finish the season against the Lions, and they can win the division with a victory in either of their last two games.
The Vikings have a lot in common with the Packers this season, as they also have won consistently with a top quality defense. The Vikings have the third ranked defense overall by points allowed. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will need to keep an eye on the Vikings safety Anthony Harris, who has five interceptions on the season, including one returned for a touchdown.
The key driver of the Vikings' success has been their rushing game, led by star back Dalvin Cook. He has thirteen touchdowns on 1135 yards, on an average of 4.5 yards per rush. Unfortunately the Vikings are likely to be without him in this game, as Cook rests an injured shoulder in hopes to be ready for the playoffs. The Vikings finish up next week against the Bears, and to win the division they will need a win in both games, and a Packers loss next week to the Lions. Either way, they've already earned a spot in the playoffs.
This game will have a playoff feel, which means it's hard to know which of these top teams will win. We'll just have to watch and see, won't we. ...
