Hulu announced (sort of, and by way of a USA Today piece) that its Hulu Live service has eclipsed 1 million users. That's buoyed, fairly obviously, that Hulu Live lives alongside the Hulu on-demand service — almost as an add-on, actually.

So if you ever wondered about the saliency of Hulu doing a live service, that should answer that. The milestone comes after about 16 months. By comparison, DirecTV Now (which in November 2016) has 1.8 million subscribers, and leader Sling TV has some 2.3 million subscribers. (YouTube TV doesn't share official numbers.)

The semi-announcement came Monday amid the Emmy Awards. Hulu didn't clean up at Monday night's show, but it did take home three Creative Arts Emmys for The Handmaid's Tale.
