Idris Elba has one of the more interesting (and absolutely underrated) carriers in the biz, and it's about to take yet another fun turn.

Netflix has announced that the Golden Globe and SAG winner will star, direct and produce a retelling of Victor Hugo's The Hunchback of Notre Dame. And if that wasn't enough, Netflix says "the feature film will be a sonic and musical experience for which Elba will also produce the music."

The project doesn't yet have a name, but writer Michael Mitnick (from The Current War) is on board, as are La La Land producer Fred Berger, and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones of Midnight Special.

Production starts this summer on Turn Up Charlie' a Netflix comedy series co-created and starring Elba.

So we'll have to wait on Hunchback for a bit, to be sure. But it'll be worth it.
