PlayStation Vue

What you need to know

  • Folks were getting 409 error codes on all kinds of platforms.
  • The problem was fixed after a number of hours.
  • Sony thanks you for your patience.

If you're getting a weird 409 error when trying to watch PlayStation Vue this afternoon, you're not alone. Reported by folks all over the place and confirmed by PlayStation's status page, errors abound on PS Vue.

The status page isn't all that helpful, simply saying the following:

You may have some difficulty accessing some channels and features in PlayStation™Vue. Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, and we thank you for your patience.

The service status page also points to problems with account management, gaming and social, PlayStation Now, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, and PlayStation Music.

Sony does note that you'll notice these errors on the following platforms: PS Vita, PS3, PS4, the web, and "other." So that pretty much covers everything.

More: What's the biggest streaming service?

The timing is particularly perilous with the Women's World Cup going on, and it's yet another example of a streaming service hiccuping during a major sporting event. (Fox enjoyed record streaming numbers during the United States' first game on Tuesday.) Fortunately you have to imaging this outage will be over by the time the U.S. women play Chile on Sunday, right?

In the meantime? Hope you have a good antenna.

The good news about a 409 error is ... Well, there is no good news. It's a network thing. And as we all know all too well, this streaming stuff is all about the networks. Whether it's your network at home, or the networks that serve the services themselves. It's all about networks.

Meanwhile, on Twitter, folks are a-tweeting about the outage.

Wendi, of course, has the right idea.
