Small towns are marvelous for murder mysteries. (Just ask the folks of HBO's Sharp Objects.) And CBS All Access is about to get in that game with One Dollar, which premiers on Aug. 30.

As CBS puts things:

One Dollar is a mystery set in a small rust belt town in post-recession America, where a one-dollar bill changing hands connects a group of characters involved in a shocking multiple murder. The path of the dollar bill and point of view in each episode paint a picture of a modern American town with deep class and cultural divides that spill out into the open as the town's secrets get revealed.

So we're talking seven murders, actually, and a large ensemble cast that includes John Carroll Lynch, Nathaniel Martello-White, Chris Denham, Philip Ettinger, Kirrilee Berger, Gracie Lawrence, Joshua Bitton, Nikẹ Uche Kadri and Hamilton Clancy. Greg Germann, Sturgill Simpson, Aleksa Palladino, Jeff Perry and Leslie Odom Jr.

Some names in there you know. Some names you might not. But figure by the end of this thing we'll learn a lot more about this town — and the people who live there.

CBS All Access is $5.99 a month with commercials, or $9.99 without.
