Here's a fun one. PlayStation Vue is dying. It'll be gone for good on Jan. 30, 2020. And while we have our own ideas about which live TV service its subscribers should consider, so, too, does PlayStation Vue. Sort of.

Sony's soon-to-be-defunct service has sent emails to its remaining subscribers pointing them toward Google's YouTube TV. But there's a catch. Here's the relevant paragraph from the email.

As the PlayStation Vue service is ending, please consider YouTube TV as a cable-free live TV alternative. Watch local sports and news from 70+ channels, all available on your favorite devices. Learn more here.and try it for free.* (Sponsored link)

Note that list bit — it's a "sponsored link." Money has almost certainly changed hands here. Not that there's anything wrong with that. It's the way of the world these days. But that doesn't make it any less amusing.

And for what it's worth, YouTube TV remains a fine option, even if — like every other service out there, for the most part — it's seen prices increase a bit over time. Things are now up to $49 a month for service, and for YouTube TV's single suite of channels. (That makes things nice and simple.) It still has a bevy of premium add-ons from which you can choose, including Showtime and Fox Soccer Plus, NBA League Pass, STARZ and more.
