Fresh from New York Comic Con we've got a new trailer for Star Trek: Picard. And, more important, a launch date.

The continuing story of the legendary Star Trek caption will debut Jan. 23, 2020, on CBS All Access. New episodes will air on Thursday, with 10 in all in what CBS calls "the first season."

More: Everything you need to know about Star Trek: Picard

The new trailer gives us a slightly deeper look at what to expect. It starts with Data (who we've already seen in pieces) painting in a vineyard in what may well be some sort of dream sequence. (Which hopefully would explain the hair.) He's painting a woman as Picard approaches and asks if his old boss — and they're both in their old TNG uniforms, by the way — would like to finish the painting for him.

"I don't know how," Picard answers.

Something bad has happened to Picard. We know that. But we still don't know what. But he's trying to protect someone and change something.

And then there's the old cranky Will Riker and Deanna Troi. "Thank you for not trying to talk me out of all this," Picard says to Riker. "Believe me, I know better," Riker laughingly answers.

And beyond that? We've still got more to learn.
