This weekend, MMA fans can see a title fight that is also part of a championship tournament. That match will cap off a full night of action available exclusively streaming online. You can watch Bellator 222 featuring MacDonald vs. Gracie only on DAZN.

Bellator 222 is taking place at the Madison Square Garden in New York City on Friday, June 14. The live broadcast is on DAZN, and it begins with the Prelims at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time, followed by the Main card at 10 p.m. Eastern.

The main event is a semi-finals bout in the Bellator Welterweight World Grand Prix Tournament. The eventual winner of this MMA playoff will be the undisputed Bellator Welterweight champion. Douglas "The Phenom" Lima has already punched his ticket into the finals, and he awaits the winner of this matchup.

Neiman Gracie (9-0) is an undefeated Brazilian MMA fighter and champion Jiu-Jitsu competitor. He lacks a signature win, but Gracie is remarkable for his submission ratio. He has earned victory by submission in eight of his nine matches, with only one fight going to a judge's decision. He bested Ed Ruth with a rear-naked choke submission in the first rough of this tournament. Now, Gracie plans to get that big victory and recognition by winning the Welterweight title and this Grand Prix.

Rory "Red King" MacDonald (20-5-1) is the defending Bellator Welterweight champion, but his time with the title has been a rocky road. After defeating Douglas Lima to claim this championship, MacDonald moved up to Middleweight for the first time to attempt to become a two weight class champ. He was quickly defeated by Gegard Mouusasi, who knocked Rory out in the second round.

Then, in MacDonald's first round bout of this Grand Prix, his title defense resulted in a majority draw against Jon Fitch that was as unsatisfying as it was strange. At times, Rory held back against his opponent instead of fighting. After the decision, which by the rules has MacDonald advancing even though he did not win, he gave one of the strangest post fight interviews I've ever seen. It resulted in speculation that Rory would retire, which he later clarified. You can watch it here, and see an honest person at a crisis point in their career.

Bellator 222 also features an anticipated co-main event with Lyoto Machida (25-8) vs. Chael Sonnen (30-16-1). This match was originally set to be the main event of the night, with good reason. Machida is a former UFC Light Heavyweight champion, and facing Sonnen has been expected but never scheduled until now.

The rest of the card, as always subject to change, is as follows:

Main Card

  • Darrion Caldwell (13-1) vs. Kyoji Horiguchi (27-2)
  • Dillon Danis (1-0) vs. Max Humphrey (3-2)
  • Eduardo Dantas (21-6) vs. Juan Archuleta (21-1)

Prelims

  • Aaron Pico (4-2) vs. Ádám Borics (8-0)
  • Ricky Bandejas (11-2) vs. Patrick Mix (10-0)

  • Mike Kimbel (2-1) vs. Sebastian Ruiz (2-2)
  • Heather Hardy (2-1) vs. Taylor Turner (3-5)
  • Haim Gozali (8-6) vs. Gustavo Wurlitzer (22-22)
  • Phil Hawes (4-2) vs. Michael Wilcox (6-3)
  • Kastriot Xhema (2-3) vs. Whitney Francois (2-6)
  • John Beneduce (2-2) vs. Kenny Rivera (2-1)

  • Valerie Loureda (3-1) vs. Larkyn Dasch (debut)
