Fans of English Soccer are in for one of the biggest weekends of the year. With eight matches over four days, the Fifth Round Proper of the FA Cup plays out, streaming live on ESPN+.
The FA Cup tournament, in its 138th edition, will play Round 5 from Friday, Feb. 15, to Monday, Feb. 18. The matches will take place across England and Wales, with three in London.
For those new to the FA Cup format, Round 5 is akin to the Sweet Sixteen in a tournament like the NCAA's March Madness. These winners from the fourth round represent the best of the hundreds of Premier League, English Football League, and other clubs in the National League System.
This year's fifth round features seven Premier League tier 1 teams, six teams from the EFL Championship tier 2 teams, two League One tier 3 teams, and a single League Two tier 4 team. For those who love to root for an underdog, that tier 4 League Two team is Newport County Association Football Club. For those of you who prefer to be front runners, the Chelsea Football Club are returning champions, and their color scheme will fit in well in your wardrobe with all that New England Patriots gear. They have this round's biggest match, facing off against fellow Premier League team Manchester United.
