Mi Box The Xiaomi Mi Box was all but abandoned, but now has an update to Android Oreo.

When it comes to Android TV boxes, the Xiaomi Mi Box had plenty of potential — 4K support for less than $100 — but failed to amount to much of anything. That was in no small part due to the fact that it was pretty underpowered, and also undersupported.

But the Mi Box (3) lives on, as it's starting to get an update to Android 8.X Oreo, according to folks on Reddit. (We'd check our Mi Box, but it appears we threw something out, for once.)

What to look forward to? A new user interface, some bloatware, a few bugs, but also a bunch of grateful Mi Box owners.

If you're looking for a better Android TV experience, your best bet is to go with the only Android TV box we recommend — the NVIDIA Shield TV — or to get a set with Android TV built in.
