Your TV could be smarter with the Amazon Fire TV Stick on sale for only $20 today

Consider how expensive your monthly cable bill is, and then think of everything else you could be using that money on instead. You might think you'd be bored without being able to mindlessly flick through channels whenever you'd like, but you'll soon find that only gives you more control over what you're watching, rather than less. The Fire TV Stick streaming media player is one device that can help take the place of your cable box, and right now it is down to $19.99 at Woot — but only for today as part of a tech gift sale (or until sold out). Shipping is free for Amazon Prime members, so remember to log in with your Prime account.

Amazon does have a newer generation of the Fire TV Stick that usually goes for $50, but you can actually snag one for only $35 right now. That version includes 4K video support and an upgraded Alexa-enabled Voice Remote. Amazon now sells this 1080p Fire TV Stick with the new remote for $40 (though it is currently down to $35 for a limited time) and has discontinued the old remote. The new remote adds previously-absent volume controls and is $30 if purchased separately.

The Fire TV Stick is Amazon's most-affordable streaming hardware that provides quick and easy access to popular services like Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Netflix, and more. Its remote is still Alexa-enabled, which means that you can speak to it and get your favorite shows played without having to search for them manually. The device supports a picture quality up to 1080p and Dolby Audio.

If you're simply after an easy and inexpensive way to add Amazon's streaming stick to your TV set and you're happy using your existing remote for volume, the offer at Woot is currently the cheapest way to go. It's $20 off its full price and a match for the lowest it ever went at Amazon outside of Prime Day. For some other techie gifts, take a look at the rest of the sale going on at Woot today.
